Congratulations on investigating your choices in birth! You have joined the group of parents that want private care for pregnancy and birth. Today's midwives are well educated, offer complete prenatal care, and obtain important information from lab tests while retaining the knowledge that women are made to give birth and babies are made to be born. Midwives understand that when a woman feels safe and is well supported during labor and delivery; her body works like it should. Since midwives specialize in natural and unmedicated birth, women find that birth can be better than they've ever imagined!
Our midwives are all women and have given birth, they know exactly what you are going through in your pregnancy and birth. It is our mission to help parents achieve a safe and rewarding birth.
Our midwives are known all over the country for their expertise in water birth, twin births and breech births. Water birth has been proven to be the best way to give birth and is the perfect place for a baby to transition from the warm amniotic fluid in the womb to life in the air.
Women comment that their water birth was easier than their previous births with an epidural! No matter where you find yourself on the journey to a rewarding birth, please contact a midwife at Texas Midwives Group so she can help you have the best birth possible.
Each midwife is licensed by the State of Texas and certified through North American Registry of Midwives. The midwives also remain certified in adult and infant CPR through the American Heart Association and/or Red Cross and neonatal resuscitation through American Academy of Pediatrics. The midwives have delivered over 400 babies in homes and birth centers with a 4% C-section rate.
Texas Midwives Group employs the best of the best and they are known across the country as specialists in breech births, twin births and VBAC births and are sought after speakers in conferences across the country. Although they are known for their skills in births that the medical community considers high-risk, they love helping single babies in normal pregnancies to come into the world too!
Transfer of Care during Pregnancy
Some women that plan to give birth in a hospital find, as their due date approaches, that their birth plans will not be honored. Texas Midwives Group is happy to set up a consultation appointment to see if your situation qualifies for a transfer of care. If you would like to speak with other women that made the decision to pursue a birth on their terms by changing plans to include a midwife assisted birth, please contact a midwife with our group so she can put you in contact with other women for you to interview about their birth changes.
Over 80% of the births our midwives supervise are successful water births. Water birth has many advantages for mom and baby! Schedule a consultation today so a midwife can answer your questions regarding water birth.
Twin Birth
Joi Brock, CPM and Stacy Lewis, CPM are known in the Austin and San Antonio area as experts in twin births. Many twin births are also water births. Schedule a consultation to meet with a midwife that specializes in twins and their births.
VBAC or HBAC
The midwives support women that have had a previous c-section and help them to have a vaginal birth. Many women find the only chance they have at having a VBAC, vaginal birth after cesarean, or HBAC, home birth after cesarean, is to collaborate with an experienced midwife...or two!
Breech Birth
The midwives at Texas Midwives group are also very experienced in breech deliveries. Informed women are choosing to avoid a "mandatory" C-section for a breech baby and deciding to deliver vaginally with a midwife. A midwife does not consider a breech baby to be high-risk; instead, she considers a breech birth to be a variation of normal.
